for Contributors
The Indian Journal of Veterinary Surgery is published half-yearly in a size 19.5 cm x 25 cm in 2 columns, set solid, in a print area of 17.5 cm x 23.5 cm.
Nature of coverage : Contributions are welcomed which fulfill the following requirements.
All research/clinical contributions in the field of veterinary surgery and allied subjects are accepted.
Original full articles should not exceed 12 typed pages (in double space, ample margins), including reference, tables and graphs.
Short notes based on experimental evidence, clinical work should not exceed 4 typed pages. Abstract and heated section are not necessary.
Critical reviews will be accepted on invitation only.
Book review by subject-matter specialists will be for the book sent to the journal for review.
The spelling should be that of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Papers are accepted for publication on the understanding that they have not been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere and that they may not republished without prior permission from the publisher.
Manuscript should be headed with the title of the paper, the name and postal address of the author or authors or where applicable the address of the institution where the work was done.
Abstract should not exceed 150 words. The abstract should be informative and be complete in itself without reference to the text, figures or tables. It should be typed separately alongwith the title (top) and key words (bottom) Key words are required for subject indexing.
Introduction should be brief and should identify the subject aims and objectives alongwith the lacunae in earlier work in that field. Detailed review should be restricted to minimum.
Materials and methods should be complete and precise. This should include the design and technique employed. If a well known method was used, citation of relevant authority is sufficient with mention of modification, if any. Insignificant, unessential, common details should not be given.
Results and discussion should be combined to avoid repetition and duplication, including mean data and their standard errors, where applicable. The results should be related with other standard and recent work on the subject, drawing conclusions and logical interpretations. References to the previous work should be cited in the text with author's name and year of publication in parenthesis e.g. "Singh (1967) observed that ...
At the end of the paper the references should be listed in alphabetical order of the surnames of the authors with all authors initial included, year of publication, title of the article, name of the journal, volume (underlined or heavy typed) and page range of the article. The name of the periodical should be abbreviated according to the world list of Scientific Periodicals, 1963, fourth edition, Butterworths, London.
For abstraction journals, complete information about original publication and name of abstraction journal, volume page range, abstract number and year of publication (All in parenthesis).
For book, Name (s) and initial of author (s), year of publication, title of chapter, title of book, publisher and volume (if any), edition and the relevant page range consulted.
Illustrations referred to as figures should be submitted in duplicate larger than the size desired for reproduction. Drawings, diagrams and graphs should be in black ink on smooth white paper. Black and white photographs should be given where it is applicable. Nothing should typed or written on the back of the illustrations except authors name, a short title of paper and a figure number with a light lead pencil. If transmitted through post, illustrations should not be folded but should be protected by card board paper. The authors have to bear the cost of printing of coloured photographs at the rate of Rs. 1,000/- per page.
Tables should be typed on separate sheets and numbered in Roman numerals. Each table should not exceed the equivalent of the half the journal page and their number should be restricted.
A proof of each article will be sent to the author. Only minor corrections to the proof should be done.
Reprints : Twenty reprints will be supplied to the first author on the payment of nominal charges.
Submission of articles : Manuscript should be submitted in duplicate to Dr. Gaj Raj Singh, Editor, Indian Journal of Veterinary Surgery, Division of Surgery, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar - 243 122 (UP), INDIA.
